Our next Slow Riding Day will be held at the Ford Dunton Technical Centre on Sunday, 17th September. If you wish to attend please let me know beforehand, to help ensure we have sufficient numbers of Observers (and biscuits) available.

Members should aim to arrive by 09:45 for a 10:00 start.

We will be using the Special Surfaces Area - behind the main buildings - due to a local IAM car group also being booked for that day. If you should find yourself in amongst the 4 wheelers on the Test Track you are in the wrong place!

We run slow riding days for the benefit of all members twice a year and charge a modest entry fee of £5 to cover the provision of biscuits & water and help offset our expenses.

We always endeavour to offer as wide a range of activities as possible, including emergency braking; manoeuvring exercises; the correct way to pick up your bike; a 'swerve' test and the slowest rider race - to win the much coveted 'snail' t-shirt. We will also provide 1-to-1 assistance to address specific issues as required.

For those who are not familiar with the location of the Dunton Technical Centre the address is Laindon, Basildon, Essex, SS15 6EE.

You may be required to stop at the first security gate to explain you are attending an EAMG event.

Regards,

John Tullett

Eight members signed up for the training yesterday following a few late cancellations and with 6 observers (John Tipper, Simon Enticknap, Geoff Preston, Mick Hewitt, Alan Burke & John Tullett) and one guest tutor (Roger Wardley) on hand we were able to offer a wide range of activities including figures-of-eight; slalom; offset slalom; emergency braking; and a 'DSA style' swerve manoeuvre.

I would like to thank all Observers for their commitment and expertise in making the day the success it was.

The Special Surfaces Area at the Ford Dunton Technical Centre provided an ideal location, providing you kept an eye out for the HGV's (and DAS riders) heading in and out!

The slowest rider race was contested by 11 riders over 2 heats and the final. Steve Devine employed a novel tactic by being too slow in getting ready to participate in either of the heats and had his own personal race against the stop watch after the final! The slowest rider 'snail' T-shirt was won by Richard Judd who posted the slowest times in the heats (27.15s) and final (25.71s). John Tipper upheld the honour of the Observer Team by taking the runner-up slot.

Welcome to new member Martin Sayer who joined EAMG on the day.

I am sure all those who attended the event will join with me in extending our thanks and appreciation to John for organising what turned out to be a most rewarding day for participants and Observers alike.

These events don't just happen, a lot of planning and work goes on unseen by us to enable it all to come to fruition and, as with everything John does for the Group, it's done with quiet efficiency.

Thanks John.

Here here Geoff - John is very much an unsung hero for our club and we would struggle enormously without his tremendous support. Thanks John - you are a star!
