Following on from the success of the Bouillon jaunt and the Baie du Somme ride of last year, I am pleased to offer punters the chance of another excursion a bit further down France.

Chemin des Dames, Verdun, the Vosges / Black Forest and the Schlumpf museum at Mulhouse

OUT: Saturday 25 AUGUST - Departure time 07:42 train

BACK: Sunday 02 SEPTEMBER - Departure time 17:50 train

Some very good roads down from Calais to Verdun. There is lots to see, do (and good roads to ride) around Verdun.

From there we can take some excellent roads down to Colmar.

From Colmar we can take in the Bugatti collection / Schlumpf museum at Mulhouse, with all the splendid roads of the Black Forest and Vosges slotted in for good measure. Then across west to Dijon and a run up some more very reasonable roads back to home.

Suggested timetable:

Day 1 Calais to Verdun

Day 2 Verdun - Chemin des Dames

Day 3 Verdun - Fortress etc

Day 4 Verdun to Colmar

Day 5 Colmar - Black Forest rideout

Day 6 Colmar - Vosges rideout

Day 7 Colmar - Mulhouse / Schlumpf museum rideout

Day 8 Colmar to just north of Dijon

Day 9 Dijon to home

=======

Suitable for? Anyone who can ride a motorcycle. Seriously, it will be much the same as the Bouillon jaunt, much enjoyed by Paula H (Pooh) who had never been abroad on a motorcycle before.

I have bods coming from another site already, including a recently retired police Class 1 traffic officer from the Nottingham / Leicester area, with his wife as pillion. All-in-all, I hope to put together a good bunch along the lines of the Bouillon and other jaunts we've enjoyed.

Paula, as I said: "Next stop around the world....."

Well, I'll accept that Colmar is not quite Durban, Sydney or The Pan-America Highway but it's certainly on the way.

Great if you can make it as it will certainly be no harder than last weekend's jaunt. Why?

(a) It's my holiday

(b) We have days off to do whatever we fancy

But either way, phooooey... You have breezed through it before.

There is a nice bunch lined up to come.... Including I hope a bod from Cavan in the middle of Ireland, who has a ****** long way to come before we even start

Give it a go, girl!

Very wise, since with just one you could still be fined. You are supposed to have two.

They are not enforcing it at the moment. Hire cars do not currently provide them.

Regards
Chris

yes i am in and cant wait.

Am travelling to folkstone on the sat early early- my ferry is 7.50 so wait for me on the other side- though i will get there early and try and jump on your slightly earlier crossing (always room for a little one).

Am afraid ill have to leave you on the fri as work means i have to get back to prepare for those darling secondary school kids. Bike being serviced monday, sav nav being borrowed and sucky sweets for the breaks all prepared ;)
