We are all fed up with riding in the rain this year so we hope you all have August 19th firmly placed in your diaries when it’ll be the time for boys and girls to come out and play ‘in the sun’ with our annual visit to the Cotswolds.

Audrey was very lonely last year having no other girls to ride with. It’s great having her ride with us boys but the whole purpose of this ride is to give all you girls the opportunity to ride to one of the prettiest parts of rural England with your female friends and not have to compete with the boys. You don’t get many opportunities (if any) to ride with just girls so now’s your chance; let’s hope we see you there.

We’ve booked the weather and will prepare a detailed route, both on paper and for Garmin sat. nav. if you have one. Email me if you’d like a copy. We’ve booked a coffee stop at the Buckingham Garden Centre and will have lunch on the green alongside the river at Bourton on the Water where parking is available. Many brought sandwiches last year but there are several restaurants and a particularly good Fish and Chip shop in the center of the town available.

All members, Full and Associates are welcome but we’d appreciate some volunteers to lead and sweep if we decide to split into smaller groups. Please let us know if you’d like to help.

We’ll meet at Birchanger Services at 09:00 at the junction with the M11 and A120 and plan to depart by 09:30. Full tanks please. Our route will take us out on the A507 but we’ll peel off through Woburn Deer Park before taking a cross - country scenic route to Buckingham for Coffee. From there we take the A421 out towards the Cotswolds. We’ll ride the fabulous B4022 part of the Charlbury ‘Grand Prix’ route before making our way to Bourton on the Water. We’ll spend a couple of hours in Bourton before returning on the familiar A421/A507/A10/A120 route to Birchanger.

We can’t think of a better way to spend a sunny Sunday but bring the wet suit just in case!

Hope you can join us.

Already we have double the number of girls joining us this year so Audrey is delighted.

Many thanks for all the offers of sweeping, we don't plan to lose anyone but I'll print some copies of the routes for those that would like to know where they're going. I'll respond to you individually closer to the ride when we have a feel for how many are going.

John and Audrey

Happy to lead a bunch of reprobates.

Help others. If you can't help them, at least don't harm them.

Audrey and I rode the route yesterday - and got drenched in the Cotswolds but don't worry, weather forcast for Sunday is sunny, 25 degrees and light cloud.

The Garmin route checked out OK and will be emailed to those who requested it. Here is the printed route:
(No wonder I can't find the time to cut the grass!)

And YES, we do have some girls! Audrey has a sweeper but judging by the response from the boys, Geoff and I may be looking for another leader and sweepers so let me know if you'd like to help.
