When? Sunday 16th September.
Where? The Route goes from the Dartford crossing down to Tunbridge Wells via Pembury, Goudhurst, Tenterden, Appledore, (see how many Oast Houses you can spot) Lydd and Camber Sands (nice little twisty) :) to Rye where we stop off for eats and drinks alongside the Wharf. There is a choice of Cafe’ Chippie, or take your own, any which way you like.
From Rye we head West across to Battle, 1066 Country and all that and then on down to by-pass Eastbourne and on up to Beachy Head from whence one may look down upon the renowned Beachy Head Lighthouse whilst enjoying one’s Ice Cream from atop the 300 foot cliff edge and, on a good day, you may even see the odd base jumper launch off, might'nt they Ron? There are toilet facilities available here, nothing to do with the foregoing you understand.
From here we head East along the cliff road and turn inland to make our way back up to Tunbridge Wells via Horam and so back to the Dartford Crossing and home, wherever that may be.

Meeting point. Dartford Crossing Services car park (Not the Coach park as in previous years) at 09.00hrs for an 09.30 departure. Please arrive fully fuelled, there’s a gas station on site as you would expect huh! But if you use this you then have to leave the Services, negotiate the roundabout and re-enter the service area.
Who can join this ride-out? Associate Members, Full Members and guests of Associate Members and Full Members who, having enjoyed the experience will be encouraged to join the Group. We wouldn’t want to coerce anyone you understand but make sure you get those arms right up their backs!

We will of course be using the Marker system which will allow riders of all abilities to ride comfortably within the group at their own pace whilst enjoying the ride.

Any Questions? :?

Oh! No camping permits required

How is Jim and do we know what caused the accident. I am interested as I have an identical bike and concerned that there may be a fault with the bike.

Best wishes Jim

Although I didn't make the ride and see the event, I have just seen Jim and pictures of the aftermath. It appears that a rather large stone/rock in the middle of the riding line caused the front wheel of the GS to wash out. This was evidenced by said rock being seen with a long scratch mark behind it on the road. Unfortunately this then caused a cartwheeling event for the GS, which has suffered damage to the front and rear ends.
He was lucky not to hit various items of roadside furniture.
The bike has disappeared ooop north to be assessed by the insurance, not sure what the outcome may be (Jim hopes not written off).
Jim is fine, damaged pride is not expensive.
The same cannot be said for the GS, his riding gear and the likely hit on his insurance.
