OK there is no AGT in January but we can still have a ride out. Open to all - a run of about 100+ miles leaving Sainsburys Springfield Chelmsford at 9.30am...............................Richard P.

Weather forecast for Sunday is for 3 degrees C at 09:00, with a max of 6C and a risk of rain late afternoon. Bit cold for me, but I will see how desperate I am for a ride come the weekend, and how the forecast develops.

Regards
Chris

I'm with Sir Chris, don't mind the cold, but that wet stuff does it for me,as you well know!

I'll keep a weather eye.

I'll decide on the day!
I'm sick of commuting in the sodding rain so I'm unlikely to ride for pleasure in the damn stuff.

I think it was a bit premature to worry about a bit of rain late in the afternoon as its only a short run so we would have been back. However your 3 degrees Chris is now -3 which means ice and that is something we do have to worry about! :(

Please note this ride will not be on if the forecast is correct and there is icy about............Richard P.

It is going to be a difficult call for me. The forecast indicates a strong risk of frost and icy patches in Essex, but I am unlikely to be able to assess this from the mean streets of Sydenham at 07:50, which is the time I have to leave to get to Chelmsford in time for the run.

Regards
Chris J.

Well its 11pm the skies are clear and the forecast is ice and freezing fog so unless there is a dramatic change the ride is off.

Jill has just posted for a late start so if its Ok we could make an 11am start on a shorter route......Richard P.

!!:00 sounds great to me. It means I do not have to leave until after 09:00. I shall turn up at Sainsbury at around 10:30 and if the ride is then cancelled (or has left earlier) the round trip still gives me the best part of 100 miles. I will check the forum at 08:30 to see if there have been any developments.

Regards
Chris J.

Temp I'm my gazebo is -2c at the moment and everything is frozen solid. Unless it warms up significantly in the next hour, I won't be venturing out as the chance of ice on still draining roads is too high
Regards Chris

I will check for a 10am update. The sun isn't really hot enough yet to get into the shadows of the trees.............................Richard.

Sorry Guys but I won't be leading a ride today. Although the air temperature is climbing - slightly - out in the country the sun has not penetrated the areas of shade and there are still sheets of ice. The risk of a casualty is therefore too high.........................Richard
