The Full Member Social Ride for August will be to Uppingham Rutland an overall distance of about 230 miles. A stop on the outward leg fuel at the halfway stop and maybe a tea stop on the return leg. Its a long ride so if the weather is off we will use an alternative destination.

Please meet to leave Sainsburys Springfield Chelmsford at 9.30am sharp.....Richard P.

Sorry Richard, I missed your first stop! Turned back 70 miles out with Phil and Ian. Hope they made it as last I saw Phil had the map out!

Great ride today so many thanks to Richard and the various back markers!

Excellent roads - with the exception of that poxy goat track with grass on it - but fantastic route overall ! Top ride everyone!

Chris

Richard says he included the 'goat track' because he knows I like that sort of thing. I think they help to keep a ride real. Apart from that, fabulous day: Great weather, good company, lots of good roads (it was a long run) and fodder stops. I counted 21 bikes initially. There were the occasional navigational irregularities of course; no good ride is complete without them. but most were on the way home, which doesn't count. I managed 328 miles. Many thanks to Richard and the back markers. Pictures have been posted.

Regards
Chris J.

An epic trip! Thank you for a smashing day everyone. It was only the second trip out for the new bike and I was really please with her. Its a shame the marker system went opps - I do think even the home bound journey counts- I spent some considerable time looking at road side foliage and considering taking my helmet off before assuring myself that the moment I did so the pack was sure to arrive! In dribs and drabs they did, but only about 4 riders turned up and I wasn't sure who the back marker was by then. May be the back marker should be a person going to the final destination and as people go home they drop to the back and offer a jaunty wave goodbye?
Thanks especially to Richard for putting in his time to sort the trip.

Richard et al, I echo the thanks for a great day out, good route an excelent pace. We do get strung out as we each ride to our own limits and the conditions in front of us - but thats expected and makes for a very enjoyable day.
