Still damp but not actually raining. Both Richard and Mick's rides seemed to have about 8 participants (difficult to tell since they kept socialising with each other). I cannot report on the ride since unfortunately after about 5 miles the bike started flashing a puncture warning at me. Sure enough rear was down to 36psi and falling. Back marker Geoff stopped to help, and eventually it was his Crafty Plugger which fixed the split induced by a tiny nail. Geoff gets the Hero of the Month Award. I decided to turn tail for home. This turned out to be a good call. After 2 garages had bike-unfriendly air lines I finally invested a tenner in an AA electric compressor which looked like a toy from a Christmas cracker but, bless it, did very slowly but surely bring the tire up to full pressure. However I could watch the tire pressure slowly drop on the journey back until it was 10 psi down when I got home. The split had opened up again slightly. Found another embedded nail (non-leaking) so I think it will be a new tire for me since only about 1000 miles left on the current one.

KTM tire pressure monitoring system gets good marks, both for detecting the puncture and letting me see what was happening on the way home.

A few snaps from Sainsburys have been posted. I hope the rest of you guys had enjoyable runs.

Regards
Chris J.

Thanks for a great day Richard, some great new roads.

Shame about your puncture Chris but at least you home safe.

Spider it wouldn't be the same without you!

Thanks Geoff for back marking.

My day started in a rush with a flat battery on the car and stuart grey popping in to help me move it to get the bike out. but it managed to start as I can't push it with a bad back he caught me eating my toast in my underpants and then decide to give me some exercises which made me late. Sorry if there was any confusion with the two groups colliding and be telling the guy on the red bike to go the wrong way I saw you again going the right way when I was going the wrong way I do apologise. A dry day. New Roads and bags of fun cheers Richard and also Jeff for back marking with his magic headlight. I even washed my bike when I got home it was that good.

A damp start probably restricted the turn-out - wimps - but it turned into a great day with many new roads and some fine riding.

Thanks to those who made it so good and to Geoff for tail ending and for getting Chris on his way so we could get going...........Richard
