Both my daughters passed their car driving test years ago. Recently, I was looking at their licences and noticed that, as well as category AM which enables them to ride mopeds, also present is group A, which is the full motorcycle category. Neither have a full motorcycle licence so what's this about? On further examination, both licences have code "79(3)" against the motorcycle category. This denotes that they are only able to ride "tricycles".
Now, the full car licence also permits driving of tricycles so why would the DVLA see fit to add category A code 79(3) to their licences when they changed their addresses about 10 years ago?
I know DVLA moves in mysterious ways but I can't find anything on their website to explain this, are there any DVLA experts out there who can assist?
Cheers
